If you would like to help others in honor of Martin Luther King Day, Salsa for Salsa on Monday, January 18 is the way to go! It is a fun food drive benefiting the food pantry at the Spanish American Center in Leominster. There will be food, Salsa music, dancing, dance lesson and demonstrations. It’s a great way to have some fun and help those in need. 10th Anniversary

ImageThe Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra (CHSO) continues its Tenth Anniversary Season with two exciting and colorful concert presentations in January in the Grand Ballroom at Milford Town Hall. The first Family Symphony Concert of the season takes place on Sunday, January 17th at 3PM. Two weeks later, on Saturday evening, January 30th at 7:30PM, the Symphony’s subscription season continues with “Songs of America!,” featuring a special appearance by WGBH music host Ron Della Chiesa, who will introduce rising star soprano Ms. Melanie Campbell as the special guest soloist of the evening. claflinhill.org, 508-478-5924

Cassie’s memory

In the early morning hours of September 21, 2009, the world tragically lost 18 year old Cassandra “Cassie” Poulin, of Clinton. Join her friends and family for a benefit show to raise money for a scholarship fund in her name with bands Musclecah, Ask the Ice, Fuel Of War, Devoid, Godilla, Day One, Spawn and Boxx. Worcester blues

If you haven’t heard already, Worcester’s own The Delta Generators combine the soulfulness of delta blues with the power and energy of early rock ’n’ roll. Latino beauty

Applications are now being accepted for the Miss Latina Worcester County cultural and scholarship pageant. Young ladies and adult Latina women ages 6 through 40 are eligible to participate. Applicants will be chosen to compete in four title divisions: Little Miss Latina Worcester County, Teen Latina Worcester County, Miss Latina Worcester County, and Señora Latina Worcester County. Contestants will compete in four contest categories on July 24, 2010 at the majestic Hanover Theater for the Performing Arts in Downtown Worcester. Give it a spin at the Worcester Center for Crafts Kids & Clay class running Jan. 20, through Feb. 24 from 3:30 – 6 p.m. Your child’s imagination is the only limit as they learn and develop a wide range of clay-working skills. From bowls to whistles, this exciting fast paced class will have students pursuing a new topic each day from; animal pots, sculpted-rattles, self-portraits and more, as your child learns the many fun ways to work with clay. Kids will have multiple opportunities to try out the potter’s wheel, with more advanced students working independently. $165 for six weeks, $15 for materials. Ages 8 to 16.
