Turn your teen on to a new form of self expression at the Capoeira for Teens class on Saturday, March 13. Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art, is a truly unique sport: part dance and part fight. The capoeirista moves to the rhythm of the berimbau, an African string instrument, and as the tempo changes, so does the pace and energy of the game. Depending on your point-of-view, capoeira can be seen as a form of exercise, a fast and exciting sport, self-defense, or a game of strategy. Brown Bag Concert at the Museum of Russian Icons featuring New England Youth Chamber Ensemble on Saturday, March 13. The chamber orchestra based at Thayer Conservatory in Lancaster is directed by Dr. Connie Rittenhouse Drexler, and their concert will include sacred and classical music from their repertoire, as well as music from Russian composers. Set in feudal Japan, the two act comic opera The Mikado or “The Town of TItipu,” is Gilbert and Sullivan’s most beloved and famous opera, and you can catch The Mikado with Master Singers of Worcester, Worcester Opera Works on Saturday, March 13.
