Lets kick off the weekend off with live music on Thursday November 5 with Hot Day at the Zoo, a fiercely progressive 4-piece string band grown in Lowell and appearing at Tammany Hall tonight. Auburn’s Halligan’s Sports Bar and More hosts an Acoustic Thursday with In-Dispute. Fans of Ukuleles, wurlies and boy/girl harmonies should check out A Pony for my Birthday at Nick’s Bar, along with Corrine Ashley and Brooks Milgate. The Christ Episcopal Church in Rochdale welcomes Scott Alarik. Mike Lynch plays Squire Whites Pub and singer songwriter Sam James can be found at the Banner Pub. Town favorites The Flock of Assholes play their Thursday night gig at the Lucky Dog along with special guests Sleep Alive, Set the Sunrise and Beats & Sources. Metal Thursdays continue at Ralph’s with Morgirion, Mythology [NY], Bog of Infidel and Katahdin. Or if that’s not heavy enough for you, stop by The Palladium and catch Vader with Decrepit Birth, Warbringer, The Amenta, Augury and S.W.W.A.A.T.S.
Moving on to Friday November 6, at the Hotel Vernon you’ll find a post Halloween Zombie Costume Party and benefit for Central Mass Roller Derby with The Dungeoneers, Male Nurses, It’s Alive, The Rowdy Ones and The Anti Bodies. We have Pretty in the Bathroom at Ralph’s featuring Graph, Cure for Static, Bova Chevo and Dental Plan. Life’s a cabaret (wait, haven’t I used that before?) at Nick’s Bar with Niki, Dan and the Speakeasy Combo. The Cannery in Southbridge has Clutch Grabwell featuring six members who play a mix of hard rock and pop, along with Ten Foot Polecats. Grateful Dead tribute band Fennario play Tammany Hall with The Peacheaters. Folk singer Bill Staines plays The Town Green Coffeehouse in the First Congregational Church of Princeton. If you yearn for sounds of yesteryear, stop by the Hanover Theatre for The Original Stars of American Bandstand featuring Fabian and Bobby Vee with special guests Brian Hyland, Chris Montez, The Chiffons and Barbara Lewis. The Blue Plate Lounge hosts Sons of Hirum. Beatnik’s welcomes The Flo. The band Switchback is at Irish Times/Rehab tonight, and Tigerlily who call themselves a “Wildly Entertaining New England Cover Dance/Rock Band” on their facebook page, are at PiNZ.
On Saturday, November 7. The Last Call Band, a rock cover band that plays tunes from the 80s/90s through today, is over at Fifth Amendment. Drive your Hot Rod Lincoln to Point Breeze on the Lake in Webster to see The Commander Cody Band. At Tammany Hall you’ll find New Pond Fondle and New Pilot. Kent Burnside, RL Burnside’s grandson and one of the heirs to the Burnside musical legacy, will make his first appearance in Worcester at Gilrein’s. Turtle Boy Award winner Jubilee Gardens are at Sahara Café. Go Gadget Go is at Beatnik’s and Whalebone Farmhouse can be found at Vincent’s Bar. Nick’s brings you Andy Cummings as he opens for Amy Allison. At Ralph’s you’ll slam out to Metal: Justice Hill (CD Release show), Beware The Ides, Nemecide, Mourning The Dead.
